I like flowers.
Real ones that grow in the garden and the kind you can plonk in a vase in your kitchen. I like pictures of flowers. Paintings that overflow with blossom, filling my imagination with their heady scent. I crave fabric printed with a ditzy floral and long to wear skirts and dresses that feature a pattern of huge, bold blooms.
I also love delicate floral flourishes that I can sneak into our home without making my husband feel {too} emasculated 
Which is why Vicky Trainor’s designs are perfect for me. Way back in May of this year I ordered a sweet handmade brooch from Vicky’s Etsy store The Vintage Drawer, and I’ve been meaning to tell you about it ever since.
Vicky uses beautiful re-claimed vintage linens and haberdashery to create her range of gifts, wedding items and housewares. There are colourful floral details, touches of lace, sweet buttons that catch the light, and delicate embroidery. I love it all.
I first came across The Vintage Drawer while planning our January wedding. I was hugely tempted by the range of reception stationery on offer, but for one reason or another I never got round to placing an order. When my Mum’s birthday rolled around in May, I finally had an excuse to order something pretty from the store.
The small ‘love’ brooch I picked out for her arrived in its own cushioned box topped with a vintage button. Mum loved it, and has worn it with pride many times since. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is excellent, and I love how original Vicky’s designs are too…
Each Vintage Drawer piece is unique and handmade, which only makes me crave another purchase even more. I definitely want my own brooch to pin to my trusty denim jacket. I’m also lusting after pretty cushions and an embroidery hoop sign…
